Better horse management

Over run with domestic horses gone wild. As a resident of Nevada for 60 years and an avid outdoorsman, there were never this many horses and burros running open range and in the process devastating the rangeland and water sources for native wildlife. Everyone thinks they are nice to see standing along the highway driving into Reno and all parts of the state but if they got out there to actually see what’s happening is outrageous. Starving for food and water and looking like a bag a bones. I’m sure they would change their mind.

Remove wild horses. Invasive species that degrades habitat and spreads invasive grasses.

I agree, there is a population issue but I disagree with your argument. If the horse were “starving” as you say, we would not have the population issue you first argue. Both cannot exist. There is a way to reduce reproduction by darting the females with birth control that lasts 5 years. The funding and the volunteers are willing and waiting, the BLM now needs to work together with conservation groups. In addition, there are 42,000 wild horses and burros roaming, and 420,000 cattle grazing the state……
