Blight Reduction Initiative - Vehicle Recovery & Resource Reuse Initiative

I’d like to propose a community-driven solution to address the growing issue of abandoned and non-operational vehicles in areas like Sun Valley and surrounding parts of Reno. Many neighborhoods are experiencing an increase in abandoned or non-working vehicles. These vehicles:
* Lower property values
* Create safety hazards
* Contribute to environmental pollution through fluid leaks and debris
* Negatively impact overall community appearance and pride
Develop a Community Vehicle Recovery System that shifts the current model from simple removal and disposal to resource recovery and reuse.
I recommend starting with a pilot program in a high-impact area (such as Sun Valley):
* Map and document abandoned vehicles
* Coordinate a targeted removal effort
* Track measurable outcomes (safety, property conditions, environmental impact)
Use results to evaluate scalability across the region.
Long-Term Goal
Transform abandoned vehicle removal from a recurring public expense into a sustainable, community-supported system that contributes to local economic activity and environmental restoration.
Benefits
* Cleaner, more visually appealing neighborhoods
* Improved road safety and accessibility
* Increased property values
* Reduced environmental contamination
Creation of local jobs and workforce training opportunities
