Child care rates are as expensive as mortgage payment or rent. Help families afford care so parents can actually go to work. This will help parents be more productive. And high quality child care gives kids the foundation they need during those early years when their brains are developing fastest and learning the most.

There's a Polish proverb. The greater the number of children you have, the greater your debts will be. I shouldn't have to pay for my kids and yours just because you spread your legs too often to afford what came out from betwixt them. That is a cost too great for me to afford. Either you need to work harder or change your career so that you can afford your kids. But don't expect me to afford them for you.

Child care workers are some of the lowest-paid professionals in the state, and high turnover means instability for kids. Better pay and training will help the wonderful people who help raise our children stay in the field.
