From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"

California gas supply to Nevada is about to go bust with the refinery closing. Nevada better get a back up that is affordable for the people in Nevada.

we could use cellulose based plant material like switchgrass, marijuana, and others to produce the biodiesel that can be mixed with a smaller amount of petroleum, change our mufflers more often, and carry on without much assistance from California. But no one thinks like that anymore.

Refineries will take forever to build as will pipelines. We need independence from CA now. We have major rail routes across northern Nevada and into Clark County linking us with Utah. We should take advantage of that link and shop refined product from the east. Break the strangle hold Kinder-Morgan has on our state.

Nevada needs its own refineries. We can not continue to rely on California for our gas needs. We need pipelines coming into Nevada, both north and south. With the ability to refine the oil that comes here. Just in Southern Nevada we have almost 10 airports (with expansions coming soon) that need jet fule or AV gas. And almost 2.4 million people. Refineries are all closing down in California, where in Nevada get almost 90% of our fule from. Utah does a good job sending what they can, but it is not sustainable.
