With the recent changes to cottage industry laws and policies small farmers will have to pay for and pass annual inspections to maintain their producer certificates. They also have to pay mileage for the inspectors to come out to their farm. That can easily be over $150 per trip, plus the inspection fee. This is an annual requirement.
