Highways and roads

From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"

Go to the project

I am writing this as an issue because of the design and needs of certain US highways. More specifically, US95. Reno, Storey County, and Washoe county, and the State of Nevada helped to develop the TRIC. They all knew the increase in traffic not only on Interstate 80, but US95 as well. For far too long, Las Vegas has been given billions upon billions of dollars for highway upgrades. While deadly accidents pile up on US 95 and Interstate 80. Granted, only now are the local authorities and NDOT getting in gear to build Interstate 80 wider, US95 has fallen to the wayside, as usual. The senators and house members have their vanity projects but ignore the main issue. US 95 from Fallon to Mercury has become a death trap. The local authorities know this as does the state. All the state has done is put in Short and insufficient passing lanes. This causes accidents that are sometimes deadly. Sure, its easy to blame it on trucks that use the highway, but also the automobile drivers are to blame as well. Their impatience and seeing the wide open also causes huge amounts of excessive speed accidents as well. The TRIC, and other distribution centers, have caused a huge increase in traffic, trucks cars and others. Yet, this impact has not been dealt with. This highway is not designed to handle the volumes it sees today. We need to upgrade the highway to 4 lanes 100% from Fallon to Mercury. Walker lake would be a challenge, but with all of the road and fuel taxes paid, federal money the senators and house member secure, its an obstacle that can be dealt with. We need to stop the focus on Las Vegas by our law makers and move to rural Nevada. This will also help with further economic development. We also should be charging the distribution centers and other companies an impact fee solely for this purpose.
