Insurance rates are exorbitantly high in Nevada, both for homeowners and auto. They create sketchy risk models based more on profitability and less on risk, then call it the industry standard. The insurance commission should take a more active role in consumer protections rather than allowing an industry that we are compelled to purchase from to arbitrarily charge high rates to protect the industry commissions and CEO’s salaries which continue to rise along with our rates.
