lack of PEDIATRIC healthcare resources and specialists in Nevada
From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"
Go to the project
The number of pediatricians, including pediatric subspecialists, and pediatric healthcare is insufficient to meet the basic needs of Nevadans. Healthcare beyond standard visits to pediatricians' offices is repeatedly referred out of state because we lack the infrastructure and technical resources to meet these needs. These referrals come at a cost to our children and their families.
Southern Nevada is anticipating a standalone Children's Hospital in 4 years but what is our plan to attract and retain the approx. 10,000 trained healthcare workers for this hospital? We need to focus on this longstanding shortage so that we can finally serve the medical needs of our current residents while also ensuring we can meet the needs of InterMountain when their hospital opens in 2030.
