Manage water
From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"
Go to the project
Nevada has many underground streams that surface as small drinking ponds used by wild horses and donkeys. If you know the land, these water sources can often be located using BLM maps and information from park rangers. Volunteer groups could work to expand and improve these sites—planting trees, creating shade, and restoring them as small desert oases. By involving landscapers, environmentalists, and local volunteers, these spaces could support wildlife, encourage responsible camping, and improve stewardship of the land. Once five or six sites are successfully developed, the process and learning curve will become much easier for future projects.
