Misdiagnosing Mental Health Issues

My child was misdiagnosed as having a psychological condition, was prescribed SSRIs, other psych meds, and talk therapy when it was actually an undiagnosed thyroid disorder. The pediatrician missed it, the PA missed it, the psychiatrist missed it, the psychiatric NP missed it, the functional medicine NP missed it. It almost cost my child their life because of the depression and suicidal thoughts that manifested from going without the correct treatment. Misdiagnosis harms people, harms children. Educate health care providers in thyroid disorders and other conditions that mimic mental health issues. Have patients see an endocrinologist to rule out thyroid.
