Motion to Impeach Gov. Joe Lombardo

I appreciate the passion in your post, but I disagree with many of your conclusions and with how you characterize both Governor Lombardo and Nevada voters. First, on abortion: Nevada law currently allows abortion up to 24 weeks, a framework voters affirmed back in 1990 and that cannot be changed without another vote of the people. In 2024, voters approved a first step toward putting a similar viability‑based standard into the state constitution. Reasonable people can debate whether that limit should be earlier, but it is simply not accurate to say Lombardo is trying to “end abortion for any reason” or criminalize women for miscarriages; he has repeatedly said his personal belief is pro‑life, that he supports giving voters a say on tightening gestational limits (for example, around 13 weeks), and that he does not support prosecuting women for having an abortion. Wanting to adjust the limit after a public vote does not “make Nevada into Texas”; it is exactly how our system is supposed to work when public standards shift. I support Governor Lombardo because he is trying to operate within Nevada’s existing legal framework while giving Nevadans a voice on changes rather than imposing a unilateral ban. You raise tragic out‑of‑state cases, and those deserve honest scrutiny, but they are not the same thing as deliberately “wanting women to die.” There is a serious ethical difference between protecting a viable or near‑viable unborn child and forcing a woman to carry a non‑viable pregnancy with no medical exceptions, and collapsing all of that into one nightmare scenario does not help us write better policy. On ICE and immigration: I strongly support enforcing our borders and our immigration laws. If someone enters the country illegally, they are not entitled to all the privileges of citizenship. At the same time, the Constitution uses the word “persons,” not “citizens,” which means anyone on U.S. soil—citizen or not—is still owed basic due process and fair treatment when the government threatens their life, liberty or property. That is a guardrail I expect of every law‑enforcement agency, ICE included. I vehemently reject the idea that ICE is systematically “killing American citizens” as a matter of policy, and I’d be just as interested to hear the writer’s concern for the civil rights and human lives of Americans who have been killed by people who never should have been here in the first place. Painting ICE agents as if they are broadly equivalent to death squads while barely acknowledging the victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens is not a serious or balanced way to talk about public safety. We can and should investigate specific abuses, discipline bad actors, and protect the right to record and protest lawfully; none of that requires demonizing immigration enforcement as such. On economics and social services: Gov. Lombardo inherited a difficult cost‑of‑living environment and an opposition legislature. It is simply not credible to act as if the governor alone is responsible for wages, rents, utility rates, and inflation. He has taken some steps to protect Nevadans while operating within those constraints, including signing legislation that, for example, solidified protections for abortion providers and patients traveling to Nevada, which shows he is not the caricature of a blind ideologue. I agree that Nevadans are hurting, but expanding Medicaid and other programs without strict guidelines, anti‑fraud measures, and a serious look at long‑term dependency is not “free”; it is a bill sent to current and future taxpayers, including working families who are already getting squeezed. I want safety nets for people who genuinely need them and guardrails so those programs stay sustainable. That is a very different philosophy from reflexively calling for more government spending every time there is a problem. On foreign policy and the environment: I do not share your outrage over U.S. military action against Iran. The Iranian regime has been destabilizing the region and menacing allies for decades, and every modern president has wrestled with how to confront that threat. Acting against a hostile regime’s capabilities is not the same thing as bombing civilians for oil profits. Likewise, I am tired of being held hostage by environmental activists who want to strangle American energy production, drive up costs, and make us more dependent on foreign producers. If any agency needs to be reined in, it is the EPA, which too often behaves like an unelected super‑legislature instead of a regulatory body with limits. None of this makes me “anti‑Nevada” or “anti‑rights.” It makes me someone who wants to protect children, uphold existing laws, keep faith with voters by letting them decide big moral questions at the ballot box, and defend American values: secure borders, responsible government, and a strong, energy‑independent nation. You and I may never agree on every point, but it does not help Nevadans to caricature people like Lombardo— or his supporters—as extremists when many of us are simply asking for order, accountability, and some common sense.

Kinda long winded, Nevada is Nevada. Similarly to all 50 States, not particularly Texas. The worst thing for Nevada is to simulate any State but stand on its own. Last Govenor packed with California, bad decision. Our Govenor is 100 % Nevada no if'sno, but's, about it. You are poorly informed. You need to study Lombardo a bit more.
