No Cost ID Included with Voter Registration
From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"

The ballot initiative that we had in 2024 to require photo ID when voting passed with 73.2%. Even as a teenager, I've thought it's important to have voter ID. Even if it's not a big problem right now, it'd be wise to implement it before it does become a problem.
However, I am also aware of the very valid criticisms of voter ID laws. One is that it creates a sort of poll tax, since you'd have to pay for the ID, which is unconstitutional.
Currently, when you register to vote in Nevada, you get a registration card in the mail (it's kind of a misleading name; it's rather large and it definitely doesn't fit in your wallet). If we end up requiring photo ID to vote, which I think we should, we should also receive some kind of ID in the mail, at no cost to the voter, that comes along with that voter registration card.
I don't know how the logistics for this would work out, but I think it's worth discussing it and talking through those logistics before we vote on voter ID laws again.

I would have thought when we went to the “Real ID” that it would have solved a lot of the issues. I had to jump through hoops trying to get together all the documents that showed my birth, name changes, etc, just so I could fly. Are DL’s being issued that do not follow by Nevadas Real ID? I believe with the Real ID it would be enough to prove citizenship and vote. What say you?

I was wondering if it wouldn’t be more efficient the just add an indicator onto our DMV ID. The dmv already has a process in place. No need to add another office or or expensive process. You can still get an ID with voter indicator if you don’t drive as people do now. Also, as a married woman the Nv dmv already has my proof of citizenship, (birth certificate and marriage certificate etc). Keep this simple and inexpensive.

@Brandi L. What a great idea. Solving a problem with something as simple as adding proof to your driver's license is brilliant. You already have all the information needed to receive a DL and/or ID as you need for voter ID. Add them all together. Thanks for sharing, it's good to see there are people out there who are seriously concerned about this problem. One of the most important issues in our country. Safe, honest, and secure elections.
