No excuse for poor public transit

From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"

Go to the project

There is absolutely no excuse for us to not invest in high-speed railways, subways, etc. throughout Nevada. In Reno and Sparks, it could be as simple as starting with two fast railways going in opposite directions on the McCarran loop so that you can get to the other side of town in less time than it would take having to go to the 4th Street Station. We could have high-speed railways connecting Vegas, Reno, and Elko without having to pay $5/gal in gas and waiting several years for a stretch of the interstate to expand only to have it still be crammed because of the population increase during that time. In every political group on Facebook I read comments where people complain about the traffic, then in the same breath condemn putting money towards railways, bike lanes, and other means of public transit.

There are railways in Nevada that currently exist that are not being used. Why can not these railways be replaced if needed or used otherwise?
