North and South equality
From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"
Go to the project
Creating true equity between Southern Nevada, the economic engine of the state and Reno/Carson City, which receive an outsized allocation of state resources. Southern Nevada has been carrying the rest of the state to its detriment, with an inequitable allocation for K-12 and higher ed, as well as infrastructure, government representation, state programs and other resources going to Reno and Carson City. Hiring in state government and appointments to state boards and commissions are primarily focused in the north. This means that this issue is self perpetuating - if department heads and department staff are focused in the North, so will their priorities - and we've seen this play out over the years. It needs to be solved for true fairness statewide.
