Open Primaries - Let People Vote
From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"
Go to the project
With more independents than registered Republicans or Democrats in the state, it makes sense to open primaries so that this large group of people can cast their votes.
Data: Active Voters as of 3/1/26 via NV Secretary of State
Dem 27.7%
Rep 27.8%
Nonpartisan 37.9%

Be careful what you wish for. Open primaries allow the opposing party to vote & pick a weaker candidate. As an independent I can switch & declare a party in order to vote for a particular candidate. Easy to switch back!

I think open primaries might have passed on the last ballot if it hadn't been combined with ranked choice voting.

You know who is the best person to have that conversation with is, CSN Professor Dr. Sondra Cosgrove they try to pass it in law but I think that they need a different approach on that matter. If you reach out to her she might have some real answers to that question/Statement.
