Over Expansion of Data Centers

From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"

Go to the project

The greater Reno area is being negatively impacted by all of the expansion and data centers going in by and around the TRIC and now further into the Silver Springs area. There is almost no oversight and there is a serious possibility that we will run out of water to run these data centers, or worse, residents will run out of water while corporations that run data centers continue to get resources that should go to residents. This is not only a water issue but an electricity issue as well. NV Energy has already stated it will shut power off to Tahoe because of the energy demands of data centers. Expansion is only good if it supports the greater health of the state. Right now it’s only supporting the corporations and the politicians whom are bought off by those corporations.

Data centers could put solar panels on homes in the are they are located in for free use by the homeowners except for the highest 300 hours per year- that way the community benefits and NV energy doesn't need more gas powered peaker. While we're at it- let's legislate that NV Energy must develop a distributed energy program. Make it against the law for NV Energy to charge by 15 minute increments
