plug-in solar

From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"

AKA: balcony solar. These are solar panels that plug into a standard 120-volt wall outlet. Utah became the first state to pass a law in March 2025 that explicitly allows residents to plug in these devices. Millions of people in Europe are using them safely without an interconnection agreement many utilities require before plugging in solar — like they do for a large rooftop array. Those agreements can require fees and take weeks to months to get. Utah did away with that requirement, so long as a nationally recognized testing laboratory certifies the solar device is safe to use. Nevada should do the same. Anyone should be able to use them. You don't even need a roof, so renters could use them to safely and cleanly bring down their energy bills. Bring it up in the next session!
