I agree completely, I am a single mom and have been on disability since 1999, 15 years ago I was still able to afford rent , maybe not the best apartment complexes but could usually find a 2 bedroom for me and my daughter somewhere that may of taken most of my SSDI check but we could do without needing any rental assistance programs like section 8/housing choice now it's absolutely impossible. I mean there is no where I can afford on my disability. Luckily I was able to get into foothill gardens and I'm very grateful. But not everyone is as lucky as I got. And the seniors and disabled just can not afford rent here. There has to be places where the rent stays under social security checks and doesn't suddenly raise up over them 4 years after you have been a good renter for no reason. That's what happened to us. We had a little place, it wasn't perfect but it was manageable and had been great tenants for 5 years and boom a new owner came in and literally raised the rent by 600 , we had to leave. And I'm watching this happen to more and more people and people are running out of places they can afford on social security or disability or even working full time at a lower paying job like restraunts or retail. It's just crazy here how you can take care of a apartment, be a great renter then a new company comes in and bam your rent doubles almost and your out.
