Rent Increases in Nevada

From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"

Rent in Nevada has gotten out of control, and it's affecting real people every single day. I've watched neighbors get priced out of apartments they've lived in for years, not because they did anything wrong, but because their landlord raised the rent by hundreds of dollars overnight. That's not okay. The cost of renting here has gone up way faster than people's paychecks have. Most of us aren't getting 28% raises — but that's roughly how much rents have climbed over the last several years. Meanwhile, large investment companies have been buying up single-family homes across the Las Vegas Valley and turning them into rentals they can charge whatever they want for. When corporations own that much of the housing market, regular families don't stand a chance competing. The people most hurt by this are the ones who keep Nevada running — hospitality workers, teachers, nurses, grocery store employees. These are hardworking people who shouldn't have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries, but that's the reality for too many households right now. Nevada needs to step up and put limits on how much landlords can raise rent each year, and crack down on the corporate buying practices that are driving prices up artificially. Housing isn't a luxury — it's a basic need. People deserve to live in the state they work in without being pushed out by greed. This issue matters to me because stable housing is the foundation of everything else — good health, education, family, community. When people can't afford to stay housed, everything else falls apart too.

I work in property management… so ive seen it all (grew up here) reno basically tye next silicon valley. Lots of the Californians move here & a lot of them housing assistance that our tax payers pay for, or just buy houses for cash way over their value inflating prices for residents here. Same thing happening with rent people move from all over who arebused to paying 5k for rent and willing to pay 1000 over their value inflating market value. Large corporations erecting built to rent and forcing nevadans to give all their money to rent never able to put money away and stay stuck as tennants
