Social Cost of Problem Gambling
From "Welcome to The Nevada Forum!"
Go to the project
Nevada's number one industry is gambling but rarely does our state look beyond the profit column in measuring its impact in the community. We need to assess and quantify the social costs of unfettered gambling and marketing often directed at locals. This would mean better identification of the causes of gambling addiction, the money derived from problem gambling, the costs to the community in loss productivity, theft, bankruptcy, divorce, etc. associated with it and how we can curb it.

Perhaps a shift in where we put Nevada money. Spend less on the gaming industry and more on our mental health care system. We are ranked number 51 in the entire country!!!
Help families stay together and rise our of poverty. If we encourage healthy families that could strengthen our foundation as a state.
