State GIS Office

We need a statewide centralized Geographical Information Systems (GIS) office to house and provide public access to the data Nevadans need for making informed statewide land, natural resources, healthcare system, and business growth and devolpment decisions. Currently individual agencies and federal land management agencies horde data in their own platforms or on internal servers not available to the public. This results in fragmented planning, expensive and incomplete analysis, and eventually, poor decision making. It also keeps tax payers out of the public engagement and decision making process. Let's use the best available data to make decisions by housing and hosting data in a centralized and easy to access platform. Nevada is one of only 5 states that doesnt have this centralized data hosting capability.
