Student discipline and parental accountability

In our small town, we have a vast majority of “unparented” children with immense behavioral issues from lack of home structure. So much so that our education system now bears the burden of providing very simple supports such as hygiene and food. Not because the parents can’t or don’t have access, it’s because they are lazy! We need to hold these families accountable for raising their children and stop relying on the education system to provide the basic needs. This burns teachers out and often times takes energy away from other students that need support. Middle income supportive family units are becoming the minority in the rural communities and our school resources are exhausted from providing so much support.
