Taxes and budget of the state and local governments

This is a topic that I know is unpopular amongst the general public. Taxes, yes they can feel like a burden to everyone especially when you are working or even retired and a majority of your income goes towards your basic needs. They are however a necessity to participate in a functioning society. The problem as I see it, and I hope others can recognize, is that our state has a regressive tax system that gives large breaks to the ultra wealthy, corporations, businesses and developers, while working folks are left to pay more than their fair share into the system without seeing enough of any real benefits from the revenue we pay into the system. That said, I am not vouching for tax breaks for everyone, rather a hard look and restructuring of how are taxes are set. Most taxes come at the point of purchase for all of us, and then on top of that we often find ourselves paying a service or processing fee from a multi million dollar card company. I suggest we discontinue processing fees in our state and cut out the middleman in as many places as possible. We also need a penalty tax for corporations that try to leave our state, especially after plundering the resources of it and make an exorbitant amount of those goods and services that don’t get passed onto their workers or to the general public that they took advantage of. We need to increase property taxes on vacant and underutilized land as well as general buildings across the board (because that’s just being fair and how we find our schools as an example). Public goods and services only thrive when everyone pays into the system and benefits, but those who make a profit far beyond the reach of an average Nevadan should pay more to level the playing field and benefits them too when we put that revenue to good use.
we see this in Virginia now and in the city of New York. We can do the same or make our own version but it is long overdue.
