Im tired of kids PUBLIC school resources being taken away. What happened to the good old days of woodshop, home economics, art, etc. Its nowonder kids run around town doing god knows what, or at (first Friday). They have absolute no one or no inspiration. They show absolutely no interest in attending school especially in certain areas. They have enough money for other meaningless things. Why not things that actually Matter!

Long ago I watched "industrial arts" and "home economics" being removed from many schools. The message at the time was that there needed to be more focus on academics. There was other and more prejudicial messaging as well.
As I see our "progress" I am going to say "Johnny cannot read. Johnny cannot reason. Johnny does not know how to use a saw, a scale, or a screwdriver either.". Note that 30 years ago I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to teach mathematics at the high school level. My degree is in environmental science. I have two children that were educated in public schools.

Respectfully, your point about the need to restore hands on Arts and Life learning is valid, but it is a disservice to dismiss the important positive impact of First Friday to the kids whom we all care about.
First Friday is where many local kids learn to make things with their hands as you describe; then, go on to sell their creations as Artisans the marketplace, and production workers at the event There is no better lesson in economic mobility, or personal growth than a local Arts market or festival, particularly in Nevada.
Artists are human-centered locals, educators, and family business owners in your neighborhood, not adversaries. Some of the world's greatest craftsmen who provide mentorship in shops which you describe are, in fact, members of southern Nevada's Arts, Culture, and Creative community.

This is David Gomez, and this exactly why I'm running for District D Trustee here in CCSD, I'm just about fed up on the same issues. They get 9+ Billion Dollars 3.9 goes to Special Ed. and we seem to always be short of programs that make sense. I Have 7 kids and 3 graduated from CCSD and the rest are still in CCSD. I have volunteer for 27 years and I am tired of the false information that is spewed publicly and on the dais from some of the Administration we call Trustees. They refuse to be honest with the public, and I don't know why that is so. d-gomezfortrustee.com
I want change and I have a real ideal on how we can do it, with bringing these programs back home here in CCSD.
