Water

I was supportive of the push to remove all front grass from properties. But now I hear that the wealthy folks are fussing about it and winning. This affects all of us and we need to demand that they not get preferred treatment.

It is not only the data centers, though. Here, in the Mohave Desert, we see areas such as The Lakes, Desert Shores, or Lake Las Vegas using the water from Lake Mead for purely aesthetic and recreational purposes. That water evaporates, so it is not really used but WASTED. Why is such mismanagement of our scarce resource tolerated?

We must rapidly enact state and local laws and adopt specific Data Center permitting regulations to slow the proliferation of Data Centers throughout Nevada. The Public Utilities Commission should adopt regulations and price caps to limit Data Centers' ability to co-opt power away from consumers, which could raise consumer utility rates and limit power supplies.

We are headed toward expansion north and south so we need to put effort, funding and creative minds together toward sustainable solutions that don’t undermine our environment. De-salination? Other ways that ensure sufficient and sustainable water and better means to project growth and develop housing and industry that don’t exceed the supplies we are confident and can demonstrate we’ll be able to produce as we reach viable solutions.

Water is scarce in our water basin 162. The federal govt is keeping the door open for large solar installations with power sent to the SoCal grid. Those projects suck out our water. Clark County projects are west of the mountains in our basin, but they don't see it and don't care. Solar and data centers need to stop the rape of our state - resources, indigenous places, flora, fauna, fossils, water, visual views are being taken from us, along with our public lands (BLM managed).

We don't need to stop the expansion of Las Vegas, we need to be prepared for that with new recycling water plants and a different source of water
